The Daily Life of High School Teacher Part 1

There comes a time in every teacher's life when they feel the need to ..... how does one say ..... SCREAM! However, I have realized that perhaps a better way to ventilate any pent up frustrations is to share my experiences with you as they are typically comical, especially to an outside viewer.

I had a student today share with the class that he was actually related to George Washington and would bring in his pedigree chart to show it. In the pandemonium of "And guess what Mrs. G I'm related to_____!" my behaviorally challenged student, in his loud voice pointing to a student across the room said, "And he is related to Barack Obama!"I looked to see who he was pointing at - one of the two Latino students in the classroom. I felt so powerless. To make matters worse, when I asked him to apologize, he replied with, "But he looks like him!" Out of the mouths of babes....

  1. Poor Jess. I'm sure you could write a novel on all the politically incorrect things students say in class. Wait to handle it with class. I'm sure you are a fabulous teacher!
