The Wolf and the Seven Kids

On January 29, Angela and I had the opportunity to play in an original opera titled "The Wolf and the Seven Kids" (even though there were actually 9 little ones in the cast). It is an original opera written by no other than Shane Mickelson, an 18 yr old prodigy who is graduating with a Bachelor of music in May! I know what you're all thinking, prodigy children are weird...well, maybe not but it was so fun to work with him because he's a cool kid.

Anyhow...The story (abridged) goes as follows...There's a family of goats (depicted as children in our low budget production) who live in the woods. They run out of bread so the mother leaves to the store. Well, there's a wolf (yours truly) who is interested in these seven (again, nine) small morsels. He stops by the house tries to convince the kids that he's their mother. Low voice=fail. So he goes to the baker to get something sweet to help his voice. Visit #2 to convince. Hairy black paw=fail. Back to the baker again....this time flour for his paw so he can pass as the mom. Visit #3, convinces the kids to let him in and he eats them. VICTORY!!! or so I thought. Mom and Betsy (Child #1 who avoids the mishap) find the wolf sleeping under a tree and cut him open, and as everyone knows, wolves have really slow digestive systems so the kids come right out of the stomach all safe and unharmed. Then they put rocks in the wolf's belly and win the day! Okay, even abridged is long. This picture is with stage manager Max, very cool name wouldn't you say Morgan? Angela's pictures are MIA so we'll keep posting. Stay tuned for the next opera update!
